With over 2,500 hours of sun a year, solar is the South Aussie thing to do.
Going solar? The proof is in the bacon.
Think of the savings! Think of the things you could better spend money on than electricity. Like that holiday you’ve always wanted. Or a few extra treats in the shopping each week.
Actually, that reminds us of a story we once heard. The details are a little blurry, but it goes something like this:
Once upon a time there were three little pigs.
Each made a house; one of straw, one of sticks and one of bricks.
There was also a big, bad wolf.
He wasn’t interested in the pigs or their feeble attempts at home-making.
Since getting solar, he's saved so much on power that he can afford as much bacon as he wants.”
There you go - the proof is in the bacon. If solar is enough to pacify one of the world’s most infamous villains, then it’s good enough for us.
Still not convinced? We get it - not everyone is swayed by a 'happily-ever-after'. So here are some cold-hard facts for the cold-hard hearted 😉
10 reasons to consider solar
1. Say goodbye to expensive power bills
Electricity as a service doesn’t come for free. It costs to create it, distribute it, administrate it and also to maintain the infrastructure.
Energy from the sun, however, is free and available to everyone.
So, logically, if you aren’t paying for your electricity usage, then your power bills will be reduced. If you use a majority of your power during the day (while the sun is out), then you will pay very little for energy usage. If, however, your electricity usage occurs at night (when the sun is asleep), then you will pay for your usage. But - if you are a night-owl, you still benefit by selling excess power back to the grid during the day, or storing it in solar batteries for usage later that night. Simple!
Many of our customers have saved thousands a year on electricity, and have recouped the cost of their solar system in a matter of years.

2. Reduce your dependence on the grid
Going solar means that you reduce your dependence on the South Australian electricity grid. This is good for a number of reasons:
- It’s more reliable - if the grid goes down, you can still use your solar power.*
- It’s more sustainable - you are using a renewable energy source, which is better for the environment.
- It’s more secure - you are not reliant on the grid for your power, so you are not subject to price hikes.

3. Save on solar panels with government rebates and incentives
The Federal Government’s STC scheme is available to assist in offsetting the cost of purchasing a solar panel system in South Australia.
Small scale technology certificates (STCs) are a tradable commodity attached to eligible installations of solar energy systems. Under the Government’s Renewable Energy Scheme, when you install an eligible system, you may claim a set number of these STCs.
The number of certificates you can claim will vary depending on your geographic location, whether your installation is eligible for Solar Credits, and the size and capacity of the installed system. For example, a 1.5kW solar panel system in Adelaide, South Australia is eligible for 31 STCs, in Hobart, Tasmania, this same system is eligible for only 27 STCs.

Most energy companies in South Australia will pay you a feed-in tariff (at around 6c - 23c per kWh*), for the solar energy you don’t use. So if you’re at work during the day, or if you’ve finally gone on that holiday you’ve always wanted, your house will be working on your behalf.
If your feed-in tariff is sitting on the lower end, talk to your provider or consider whether battery storage is a good solution for you.

Going solar is a generational investment. Yes, we all like saving money, but ultimately the transition to solar and other renewable energies is a simple part we can all play in caring for our planet.
The decisions we make about solar are not only financial, but also ethical.
Now, we aren’t jumping on any kind of political band-wagon - and whether you’re as passionate about climate change as Greta Thunberg or not - we believe it’s only right to be a good steward of what we have. And, since solar energy is free, why not make use of it?
6. Use your air conditioner as much as you want - guilt free.
Let’s face it - we all like comfort. Whether you prefer it icy cold, toasty warm or just right, climate control is a part of our every day.
But, because of the cost of electricity, there’s always a tension between comfort now and paying for it later. That is, until solar enters the equation. With the right solar configuration, you can keep the house at that perfect temperature with no concern for the cost. And with zoned reverse cycled air conditioning (*shameless plug*), everyone in the house can have their own version of perfect.
7. Access premium solar brands
Solar is a long-term investment, so quality should come into consideration. Nobody wants to be dealing with faulty panels or a dud battery two years down the track. If it's cheap, you'll pay for it later in emotional headaches and costly service calls.
At Energy SA, we've worked hard to get you the best. Looking for Enphase Microinverters? We're a Platinum Installer. What about REC? They have the lowest warranty claims in the industry, and we're a certified installer. Keen for Tesla Powerwall? We're Certified for that too.
Whatever brand you're looking for, we'll do what we can to make it happen.

We’ve made getting an initial quote easy, instant and automatic. You can choose your system size, or let our technical robots recommend one for you. We'll also give you an estimate on how much you can save on electricity, based on your quarterly spend.
If you're looking to talk to an actual human, or if you think your solar requirements are a little more custom, feel free to either get started with our instant quote tool (which can speed up the process) or to simply call us on (08) 8374 1491.
9. Access affordable brands
Not everyone has cash to burn. Sometimes affordable solar is better than no solar at all. And while we do recommend considering the quality of a long-term investment, all of our systems have a 10 year workmanship warranty and a 5 year whole-of-system warranty. Plus, most panels, inverters and batteries have a minimum 10 year product warranty. So, even if your budget is tight, you can be sure that your system is backed by some sturdy guarantees.
If you're considering a cheaper option, we encourage you to chat to one of our team about your situation. We always have your interests in mind, and will never try to sell you something that isn’t right for you.
